MANILA, Philippines — Seven overseas Filipinos have been repatriated from Lebanon following the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in the region, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Thursday.
A DFA report said that these seven overseas Filipinos were repatriated despite having an “established permanent residency” in Lebanon due to the “security risks” of the worsening conflict.
Among them were five adults and two children.
“Filipinos in Lebanon are encouraged to remain vigilant, follow safety protocols, and reach out to the Embassy for any assistance that they may require,” the DFA said.
The foreign affairs likewise said that it was still monitoring the situation in Lebanon and advised Filipinos who would want to return to the Philippines that the Philippine Embassy in Beirut “stands ready” to assist Filipino nationals who may need support during the ongoing conflict.
The seven returning overseas Filipinos were among800 Filipinos who returned to the country as of November.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration likewise said that repatriated overseas Filipinos will receive financial assistance of P150,000.
