Aegis lead singer Mercy Sunot has died after enduring a long battle against lung and breast cancer. She was 48. 

The iconic rock ballad band confirmed the news on Facebook on Monday, November 18. 

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Mercy, one of the beloved vocalists of AEGIS Band. She bravely fought her battle with cancer but has now found peace and rest,” the band said.

“Mercy’s voice wasn’t just a part of AEGIS—it was a voice that brought comfort, joy, and strength to so many. She has touched countless lives, inspiring fans and lifting spirits with every song she sang.” 

“Her passion, warmth, and unforgettable presence on stage will forever be cherished in our hearts,” the band said. 

The singer has been based in California, USA for over seven months for treatment of her stage 4 breast cancer and lung cancer.

Even at her frail state, the singer was still able to upload a video of herself in her sickbed a day before her death updating her followers about her condition. 

She said she just came from her lung surgery but she had difficulty breathing that’s why she was brought to the Intensive Care Unit. However she had breathing difficulty due to inflammation in her lungs and was brought to the Intensive Care Unit 

“Ipag-pray nyo ko please para matapos na itong pagsubok na ito. Pag-pray niyo ako” Mercy said while in tears. 

Aegis sealed their name in the industry not only for their hits but the glass-breaking pipes of their lead singers. 

Sunot, along with her sisters Juliet Sunot and Kris Sunot, and the entire band scored iconic hits such as “Halik,” “Basang-basa sa Ulan” and “Luha.”
