MANILA, Philippines – A Pasay City Court has ordered the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology to release actress and businesswoman Neri Naig on Wednesday. 

BJMP Spokesperson JSupt. Jayrex Bustinera confirmed that they received the release order earlier today. 

Arrested last week, the former actress was charged with syndicated estafa and alleged violation of the Securities Regulation Code. 

Reports of her arrest first came out on the vlog of showbiz insider Ogie Diaz in the November 24 episode of his channel. 

Naig was accused of persuading people to invest in a skin care company apparently not authorized to solicit investments from the public, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission. 

Last November 26, Southern Police District reported that a manhunt operation led to the arrest of Naig hidden under the alias “Erin” for alleged 14 counts of violation of Securities Regulation Code. They said that she was ranked 7th in the most wanted persons of 2024. 

The actress posted bail set at P126,000 for each count of Securities Regulation Code violation and also for her syndicated estafa case. 

Naig paid a total of P1,764,000. 

Her husband, Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda has come to the defense of his wife saying she never fooled anyone.
