MANILA, Philippines – President Marcos Jr. and some members of the House of Representatives met at the Malacanang Palace hours after the filing of the second impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.
“The gathering is meant to be a fellowship between the Office of the President and members of the House of Representatives, which was already scheduled some time ago. The event is for close coverage only,” the PCO told Palace reporters.
The PCO however did not disclose the names of the lawmakers included in the meeting as well as their agenda.
Prior to formal filing of impeachment complaints versus his former running mate, Marcos Jr. discouraged members of the House of Representatives from pushing it since it was just a “waste of time” and Duterte, as he said, was “unimportant.”
