Actress Maris Racal finally broke her silence on the controversy involving her and rumored boyfriend Anthony Jennings.
In a video statement released by ABS-CBN News, an emotional Maris faced the public to tell her side of the story.
Racal, who has been the subject of massive online bashing because of her leaked conversation with Jennings, said she was taking responsibility for everything that she did.
“Nagkamali ako and I wanna say sorry for everything that I have done,” she said.
She confirmed that indeed, romance brewed between her and Jennings which started June of this year when she was at a “dark place.”
At that time, she was still with her now ex-boyfriend singer Rico Blanco.
“And I knew that was wrong. I came clean right away,” she said, confessing everything to Rico that led to their split.
Maris announced her break-up with Rico whom she’s been with for five years last July.
The singer said after telling Jennings about it, the actor told her that he too had called it quits with girlfriend Jamella Villanueva, the reason for her to allow herself to be romantically involved with her “incognito” co-star.
The actress also said that besides her, Jennings also made everyone in the set know that he was already single prompting her to be confident acting a certain way.
“God knows I asked him, nagkabalikan ba kayo, he said no,” Maris said.
Fresh from her break-up, Maris said she was, like all else, “vulnerable” and getting attention from Jennings made her fall even more. She however said made sure to have cleared out to the actor his real score with Jamella.
“This is my side and I’ve been reading the screenshots. Dun ko napagtagpi-tagpi ang lahat. Kaya pala hindi siya makapag release ng statement dahil sila pa pala this whole entire time. I didn’t know. I was in the dark. I had no idea.”
Jamella recently dropped an explosive bomb on social media when she uploaded screenshots of Anthony’s conversations with Maris.
Maris said the release of the screenshots took a big blow on her making her feel lost and shamed.
“Yung dignidad ko hindi ko na mahanap. Whenever I go out whenever I walk I feel like I’m a naked woman walking. Hindi ko alam ano gagawin ko I’m so embarrassed,” she said.
She however said she now understood Jamella’s anger “that’s her side of the story, and there’s nothing wrong with that.”
“I get her pain, I get her wrath, I get her anger,” she said.
The singer recalled reaching out to Jamella but did not get a response.
