MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) welcomed an additional 2,000 new personnel Monday during an oath-taking ceremony at the Coast Guard Fleet Parade Ground.

Admiral Ronnie Gil L. Gavan, Commandant of the PCG, led the oath-taking ceremony of the 2,000 new recruits.

The newly sworn-in officers include 1,698 men and 302 women, each of whom will be assigned to various PCG Districts and units across the country to augment the workforce while awaiting their formal training schedules.

In his speech, Gavan expressed his gratitude to the new recruits, commending their willingness to serve the nation.

“Hindi sweldo, hindi uniporme, hindi prestige. Ang inyong panunumpa ay nangangahulugang kayo ay handa, na buo ang inyong loob at kaya ninyong i-sakripisyo ang inyong mga personal na interes upang paglingkuran ang Inang Bayan,” Gavan said.

With this additional personnel, the PCG’s total workforce now stands at an estimated 34,000 as of December 2024.
