MANILA, Philippines – Five individuals were arrested in an entrapment operation done by the operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation last December 12 in Alaminos City, Pangasinan. Of the ten trafficked victims rescued, seven were minors.
NBI Director Jaime Santiago said the office of the NBI- Alaminos District Office received information from a non-government organization that Shayawayne Videoke Bar (Shayawayne) is engaged in prostitution of women and minors.
Soon as a series of surveillance confirmed the report, an entrapment operation was hatched by the joint operatives of the NBI-ALDO, NBI-Dagupan District Office and NBI-Ilocos Regional Office which resulted in the arrest of the above individuals identified as Rochelle Cortez, Edmund Lanayog Corpuz, Ramones Jervy Mendoza, Bonifacio Esta, and Jester Cruz Sison.
The five are set to face charges for violation of R.A. No. 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended.
The victims were turned over to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office in Lingayen for counseling and protection.
Seven of the victims were proven minors due to the Dental Aging Examination done on them.
The arrested Subjects were presented for inquest proceedings before the City Prosecutor’s Office in Alaminos City.
