MANILA, Philippines – All out performer Gary Valenciano managed to pull off the second night of his “Pure Energy: One More Time” concert on Sunday night at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City despite still recovering from dehydration and incessant vomiting .

Midway through the first night of his concert scheduled last Friday, Valenciano was rushed to the hospital amid battling an illness. Not letting his fans down, the OPM icon announced that the second night of his concert is pushing through.

“No weapon formed against me will prosper,” he said.

In a Facebook post, an exhausted Valenciano still managed to reassure his fans that he’s got good people taking care of him and that he is getting better.

As a fitting comeback, Valenciano opened Sunday night’s show with an electrifying performance of “Shout for joy.” Despite accidentally slipping during the entrance, he still aced a power opener that got his fans screaming.

Valenciano showed no sign of weakness throughout the show.

“What a challenge it has been to even step on this stage today,” Valenciano said in his concert while taking his time out to rest.

“Alam mo, hindi na namin sinundan yung original line-up ng concert. Hindi naman tipong bahala na, we changed it a bit simply because it was a challenge kasi,” he said.

The show lasted for more than two hours. Valenciano rested and rehydrated in between breaks and even excused himself to check on his sugar.

He also explained why he had to set himself aside from time to time.

“Kapag humihinto ako, at pumupunta ako dito sa tabi I just had to get some ice chips, it was a severe hydration and mouth becomes dry too quickly,” he said.

The 60-year-old performer concluded his concert with a speech saying he isn’t retiring yet but just following a new calling.
