Abandoned baby found in Malabon City

MALABON CITY, Philippines – Two days before Christmas, a still bloodsoaked newborn baby with umbilical cord still intact was found and rescued on Monday (December 23) morning along Brgy. Potrero in  Malabon City. 

According to the Northern Police District, a female 20-year-old vendor named Marlyn Amado from Malabon noticed a red eco bag on the side of the road that to her surprise had a newborn baby inside. She immediately reported the discovery to the patrolling team in the area. 

After securing the scene, officers rushed the baby to MakaTao Hospital in Malabon City.

“The officers secured the scene and ensured the well-being of the baby.  Emergency services were contacted, and the infant was transported to MakaTao Hospital for immediate medical evaluation and care,” the report said. 

“The baby is currently under observation at the hospital and receiving all necessary medical attention,” the report said. 

Authorities are now conducting a comprehensive investigation to identify the persons who abandoned the baby. 

The NPD urges anyone with information that may assist in the investigation to come forward.
