MANILA, Philippines — Roughly 190,000 travelers passed through the country’s airports during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the Bureau of Immigration said Thursday

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said that the volume of travelers processed by immigration officers during the two-day holiday was consistent with figures recorded during the same period last year, indicating a steady recovery in international travel.

On December 24, the BI logged 52,437 arrivals and 41,895 departures nationwide.

Christmas Day followed with 47,669 arrivals and 44,192 departures, demonstrating the significant movement of passengers during the festive season.

The BI anticipates an even higher volume of travelers in the coming days as the New Year holiday approaches.

The agency reminded passengers to arrive early and complete all pre-departure and arrival requirements to help ease processing amid the holiday rush.
