MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police said Tuesday (December 31) that they see no imminent threats potentially impeding the New Year’s celebration in welcoming 2025 tonight.
“So far, wala naman po tayong namo-monitor na seryosong banta na maaaring maka-disrupt po ng pagsalubong sa Bagong Taon pero hindi po tayo nagkukumpiyansa,” PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo said in an interview on Dobol B TV.
According to Fajardo, the PNP is in coordination with other law enforcement units like the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Coast Guard among others to secure the safety during the celebration of the New year.
The PNP is also on close watch for possible incidents of violence as a result of heavy drinking during the New Year.
PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil said on Sunday that police units have been mobilized to ensure peace and order as well as response to emergency situations on New Year’s eve.
He also said that the PNP is ready to provide first aid for firecracker-related injuries as well as fire incidents.
