MANILA, Philippines – The 2025 New Year message of Vice President Sara Duterte is about facing challenges and gratitude for the love of country. 

In the video message released by the Office of the Vice President on Jan. 1, Duterte, who wished for a Happy New Year to every Filipino all over the world, said 2024 has indeed been a tough year. 

“Ang taong 2024 ay sumubok sa ating katatagan at humulma sa atin bilang isang sambayanang naninindigan para sa katarungan at kaunlaran,” she said. 

This year, she enjoined everyone to stand up to the challenges of life. 

“Ngayong 2025, sama-sama nating harapin ang iba’t ibang hamon na magpapatibay sa atin bilang isang bansang patuloy na nananalig sa Diyos at nagtutulungan para sa ikauunlad at ikabubuti ng ating pamilya,” she said. 

She thanked all Filipinos for their love and care for the country and their desire to have a better life. 

Sa ating pagsalubong sa Bagong Taon, ako ay nagpapasalamat sa inyong walang-sawang pagmamahal sa bayan na ipinamalas ninyo sa inyong pagsusumikap, pagtitiis, at pagtitiyagang magkaroon ng mas magandang kinabukasan.

Duterte is set to face a wave of legal battles this year. Three impeachment cases, a criminal, a pending investigation by the National Bureau of Investigation over her kill plot and a criminal complaint by the Quezon City Police District are all waiting for her this year.
