
MANILA, Philippines — Quiapo Church officials said that the traslacion for this year will follow the same route used in 2024 commonly known as the “traditional route” observed in recent years.
In its briefing, Quiapo Church said that the same route used in 2024 is the “traditional route” followed through the years.

Aside from this route, part of the Traslacion is the “Dungaw” rite, a ceremony where the Black Nazarene briefly stops at the Minor Basilica and Parish of San Sebastian to meet the image of Nuestra Señora del Carmen de San Sebastian.
Some think the “Dungaw” ceremony reenacts the meeting between the Mother and Son at the Way of the Cross, but they don’t. Instead, the rite symbolizes a religious gesture between the King and Queen of Quiapo, coming together to guide the faithful in prayer.
