MANILA, Philippines – Anti-narcotics operatives seized over P72.8 million of shabu at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on Monday, January 6.
The NAIA-Inter Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group intercepted 10.7 kilos of contraband stashed in an abandoned luggage from Johannesburg, South Africa, based on its tag, with a connecting flight bound for Manila, Philippines.

The operation happened at the Custom Exclusion Room, International Arrival Area, according to a report from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office National Capital Region (PDEA Ro-NCR).
Director Emerson R Rosales, Regional Director of PDEA Ro NCR said the sender and recipients are now subject to investigation and filing of appropriate charges in violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
The seized substance will be turned over to PDEA Laboratory Service.
Authorities warned the public yet again the importation of illegal drugs into the country is illegal, a penalty of life imprisonment and a fine ranging from P500,000 to P10,000,000 await offenders.
