MANILA, Philippines — Authorities will implement a no-fly zone and strict drone restrictions over Quirino Grandstand and Quiapo Church from January 8 to January 10, 2025, the Manila Police District (MPD) announced.
In an advisory, the Manila local government unit said that drone flights and sailing within the vicinity of Quirino Grandstand will be prohibited as part of heightened security measures for the annual Feast of Jesus Nazareno.
Aside from the no-fly and sailing advisory, the Philippine National Police (PNP) stated that over 14,000 police officers will be deployed to secure the celebration.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will also station over 1,100 personnel to assist in maintaining security during the feast.
The PCG earlier conducted safety and security operations in Luneta and Quiapo. Additionally, PCG Malacañang deployed 10 floating assets to patrol areas along the procession route.
For this year, the Traslacion will follow the traditional route used in recent years.
Millions of devotees flock to Quiapo and Quirino Grandstand annually to participate in the traditional transfer of the image of Jesus Nazareno.
In 2024, over 6.5 million devotees joined the procession.
