MANILA, Philippines – Immediately after flying back into the country from the US, actress Rufa Mae surrendered to the operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday in connection to the warrant of arrest issued against her by a Pasay court.

NAIA – NBI Chief  Jimmy De Leon said Quinto’s lawyer coordinated her voluntary surrender to the NBI. She underwent medico-legal examination before being brought to a Pasay court.

The comedienne has been embroiled in the controversy involving Dermacare, a beauty clinic she endorses, the same company that caused the arrest of former actress Neri Naig.

Unlike Naig,  Quinto is not facing an estafa complaint. She however is charged with 14 counts of violation of Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code stating that securities such as shares and investments are not allowed for sale in the country without registration and approval by the SEC.
