MANILA, Philippines — The annual procession of the image of Jesus Nazareno has ended after 20 hours and attracted over 8.12 million devotees, Quiapo Church said Friday.

According to Silgen Cabrito, traslacion lasted for 20 hours, 45 minutes, and 4 seconds, marking the longest procession since 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2020, the procession only lasted 16 hours while in 2024, the procession only took 15 hours to finish.

The procession started at 4:41 a.m. on Thursday, and ended at 1:26 a.m. the next day.

This is the second time the city held the procession after temporarily suspending the procession due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In terms of volume, a total of 8,124,050 devotees have gathered for the feast, surpassing the 2023 figure of 6.5 million.

Quiapo Church likewise reported that there were 538 cases of medical incidents during the feast.

Meanwhile, no instances of safety, security, and peace and order concerns were tallied based on the initial report released by the Quiapo Church.

Manila’s Department of Public Services has also yet to issue an initial report on the garbage situation following the feast.

During the Traslacion, the two ropes used to pull the andas or the carriage of the image snapped while crossing the Finance Road going to Ayala Boulevard, prompting the Hijos del Nazareno to manually push the andas.

“It is confirmed that there are no longer ropes pulling the carriage, and it is now being pushed,”  Nazareno Operations Center told reporters.
