MANILA, Philippines – “That’s not true.”
In a text message to Republika News, lawyer Enrique Dela Cruz Jr. denied the statement of lawyer Raymund Fortun about the Sottos ever receiving a copy of the Pepsi Paloma movie script.
Dela Cruz and client, comedian Vic Sotto, had earlier said that no one from the production of the movie had ever sought for their side of the story.
This is why they filed for a Writ of Habeas Data aiming to block the publication of any and all Paloma movie-related promotional material including teaser videos and posters.
Earlier today, Yap’s camp filed for a motion for immediate consolidation and a motion to cancel the January 15 summary hearing regarding the 19 counts of cyber libel charges filed by Sotto against the director.
Fortun said they have proof that a copy of the script was sent to and received by a sibling of the comedian described as a prominent personality and a senator. Obviously referring to former President Tito Sotto who himself has been embroiled in the Paloma controversy for allegedly fixing things to let his brother, Joey de Leon and Richie D’Horsie off the hook back then.
Fortun said it was never Yap’s intention to hide the material from the family. The script he said was forwarded to a Sotto sibling’s intermediary who confirmed its receipt. Follow-ups were thereafter made but no response was made by the Sottos.
Fortun insisted on having proof that the Sottos received the script.
“Meron kaming resibo,” Fortun said.
“Hindi na namin kailangan pang humingi ng receiving copy dahil ‘yun naman pong intermediary ang nagsabi na na sakanila na nakailang beses nga na tinanong na ano ang reaksyon ang sagot ay wala,” Fortun said.
