MANILA, Philippines – A 24-year old helper was arrested by authorities for allegedly raping a 15-year old girl after a drinking session in Tambakan Street, Barangay 649, Baseco Compound, Port Area, Manila last Sunday (January 19). 

Police Lieutenant Colonel Emmanuel Mike Gomez of the Baseco Police Station 13 identified the suspect as “Ronel,” a resident of Port Area. 

According to reports the incident happened at around 3:30 in the morning while the victim was sleeping in her room. 

Based on “Trixie’s” (not her real name) testimony, she, along with her siblings, cousins and the suspect were all drinking happily the night of the incident. 

When she got drunk, she decided to sleep in her room but was awakened when she felt someone kissing her. She immediately woke up and saw the suspect making advances but someone called Ronel prompting him to step outside. 

In fear, Trixie said she blocked the door so the suspect could not enter but Ronel still managed to barge in and thereafter raped her. Due to her drunkness, Trixie said she was not able to fight and resist. 

Trixie then immediately informed her parents about the incident who acted right away to have the suspect arrested. 

The suspect is currently facing violations of Republic Act 11648 (Statutory Rape).
