Gloria Romero

MANILA, Philippines –   There’s no truth to reports that the bulk of the estate of the late actress Gloria Romero, allegedly estimated at P700 million, had been left to charity, nor to anyone else for that matter, two reliable sources close to the family said.

Romero, 91, died on Jan. 25 after going in and out of the hospital. Her body lies  at the Arlington Memorial Chapel in Quezon City. It was scheduled for creation on January 29.

“Kasi talagang hindi naglalabas ang family ng kahit na anong facts about it,” the source said during the wake Tuesday night. Another family friend made a similar statement.

They were reacting to reports on social media that Romero, Gloria Galla Borrego Gutierrez in real life, had supposedly written a last will naming the beneficiaries of her alleged P700 million estate, apparently leaving 70% percent of it to various charities, including a school in Pangasinan.

The report had gone viral, which said that Romero had P717,908,754 million cash in the bank and a mansion worth P19,167,242.

The will was supposed to have been done in 2023, reportedly allocating 40% or P287,163,442 million for the construction of a provincial high school in her hometown in Pangasinan and 30% to three unnamed charitable institutions each to receive P71,990,855 million.

For her family, Romero supposedly left 15% each to her only child Maritess Gutierrez and her only grandson Chris Gutierrez.  The mansion is said to be given to Maritess and both of them get P107,688,283 million each.

But the sources said the family Romero had left behind did not have an accurate assessment of her estate. Neither did they have any idea of the alleged last will.
