MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police has confirmed that a Filipino Police Colonel is among the casualties in the plane crash at Potomac River in Washington D.C.
According to the PNP, Police Col. Pergentino Malabed Jr., chief of the PNP Supply Management Division died in the crash.
The Philippine Embassy is closely monitoring developments in the investigation of a midair crash between regional passenger aircraft reportedly carrying 64 people and a US Army Black Hawk helicopter while approaching land at the Reagan Washington National Airport in Virginia.
“Authorities are currently undertaking search and rescue operations. The White House has confirmed that a military helicopter collided with a commercial jet. So far, the Embassy has not received reports of Filipinos involved in the incident,” a statement from the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC said.
The number of casualties is yet known as search and rescue operations still continue. US President Donald Trump said in a statement that no one survived the plane crash.
