
MANILA, Philippines—The Bureau of Customs (BOC) inspected a motor service center in Makati City and found 16 luxury vehicles and a high-end motorcycle worth approximately P366 million, suspected to be smuggled.
In a statement Tuesday, BOC saidThe vehicles included models from Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, and McLaren.
Authorities secured the vehicles by placing padlocks and seals on the premises. The BOC is coordinating with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to verify registration records.
The facility’s owner or representative has 15 days to submit documents proving that duties and taxes were properly paid.
“The BOC will not tolerate smuggling and illegal trade, and this operation signals our intensified enforcement and vigilance measures,” BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio said.
“We will continue to take robust actions to sweep away those who exploit our borders for unlawful trade practices,” he said.
