Senatorial bet Willie Revillame. File

MANILA, Philippines – Comedian and TV host Willie Revillame, known to have had close relations with former President Rodrigo Duterte, declared that he is not affiliated with any political party by the FIlipino people. 

“Affiliated ako sa mga Pilipinong nangangailangan ng tulong ko wala akong partido. Wala akong partido. Hindi ako sa gobyerno, hindi rin ako sa PDP-Laban. Independent ako,” he said on his first press conference as a senatorial candidate, Friday, February 21. 

Revillame stressed that he would rather listen to the people face to face, be one with them and know their real situation than do the usual campaign sortie. 

“Ang lahat ng mga kasama ko don eh mga kababayan natin. Sila ang partido ko and I will listen to them kaya nga ang ginagawa namin, wala kaming entablado wala kaming speakers na malalakas wala kaming mga ilaw. 

“Ang gusto ko madinig ko talaga yung bawat sasabihin ng mga kababayan natin. Nahawakan mo sila, niyayakap mo,” Revillame said. 

As a TV host, Revillame is famous for giving away jackets to his live audience which made a mark on the masses. 

Revillame also said campaign strategies don’t matter and what’s important is to help people. 

He recently ranked fourth to 11th with 48 percent on an Octa Research survey.

‘I don’t want to be called as a politician’ 

The seasoned comedian also shied away from being called a politician and said, would rather be known as a “public servant. 

‘Pag sinabing politician ka nasa isip nila korap. I want to be called as public servant. 

Gusto ko talagang magserbisyo kasi sapat sapat na ‘yung ipinagkaloob sa’kin ng Diyos,” he said. 

Once given a senate seat, Revillame said he will review existing bills and laws and study why many of these legislations had been poorly implemented. 

 “Once na ako’y pagpalain ng Diyos, makaupo ako sa senado may boses na sila sa senado.” 

“I will discuss this. Aalamin ko yung mga bills, aalamin ko yung mga naiimplement nang batas para sa mahihirap bakit hindi nagagawa eh andami na palang nagawang maganda bakit hindi natin ginagawa.” 

“Kasi mahirap magdagdag ng magdag ng batas ng hidni naman nagagawa ‘yung magagandang batas,” he said.
