MANILA, Philippines — Mobile wallet giant GCash will implement temporary transaction limits during the 2025 midterm elections to prevent vote-buying and other election-related financial misconduct, the company announced.
No. 10946 (Kontra-Bigay),” GCash said in an advisory.
The restrictions will be in effect until May 12, 2025, with normal transactions resuming on May 13, 2025.
GCash said it will “closely monitor” transactions to ensure they are not being used for illegal election activities.
As part of the measures, certain Send Money services—including Express Send and Send via QR—will be temporarily unavailable once the daily transaction limit is reached.
GCash said that these steps aim to uphold fair and secure elections by preventing financial influence over voters.
