MANILA, Philippines – It was 2005 when sexy boyband The Hunks bid farewell and left their fans asking why. Twenty years later, former member Carlos Agassi spoke out about what really caused their disbandment.
Back in the early 2000s, the group the Hunks enjoyed the height of success. Composed of Piolo Pascual, Jericho Rosales, Bernard Palanca, Diether Ocampo and Agassi, the group sizzled Sunday afternoons with their sexy performances on long running Kapamilya variety show “A.S.A.P’ and did non-stop shows and concerts both here and abroad from 2000 until 2005.
Agassi rose to fame as a rap artist known for the hit song “Boracay baby.”
Online, fans of the group still express longingness for the group to reunite but since 2005, the group has not been seen together.
Breaking the hearts of fans, Agassi said The Hunks can no longer be together because of differences. Through his Tiktok he explained why.
Agassi said members of the group wanted to do solo stuff prompting the break-up of The Hunks.
“Guys, kaya nga nabuwag kasi gusto ng kanya-kanyang career nung iba. ‘Pag group pantay pantay kami sa lahat eh. Sa exposure, sa TF, sa career, so para makaangat ‘yung iba, parang nabuwag, ganun na nga ‘yung nangyar,” he said in a Tiktok post.
He even recalled an instance when he got injured and got no message of concern from the boys.
“And then wala na, wala na talaga. Kahit nung napilayan ako walang nagcheck sa’kin. Pero hindi masama ‘yun okay lang ‘yun. Ganun talaga ang buhay eh,” he said.
Without dropping names, Agassi said a group member who had a concert in the US asked him to guest and will pay him for his performance. The rapper begged off to be paid and said he’s willing to do it for free out of brotherhood.
“Naalala ko nga, nasa [United] States ako, may mag-coconcert, babayaran daw nila ko para mag-guest,” he said.
“Sabi ko hindi, brother kita, kuya ko kayo lahat, ako pinakabata eh tara kahit walang bayad, I’ll do it for you, my bro. So ginawa ko,” he said.
However, when it was his time to ask for favor, he got nothing, not even a response.
On his Tiktok channel, Agassi still posts music which he personally writes and produces, mostly together with his wife Sarina Agassi. The 45-year-old hunk said he asked for help from the boys to promote his music but just got “seen” zoned.
“So ito na, gumawa ako ng Milk Tea, marami ako minessage para lumabas ang music video, seen,” he said.
“Tapos nagkita kita kami nung birthday ni Mr. M. Syempre showbiz, hi guys, binati pa nila ko lahat sila unang bumati,” he said.
“Magkaka kompitensya pa rin kami. Ayaw nila makabalik ako,” he said.
Even if he’s not actively working in showbiz, Agassi is still very much visible online through his social media channels where he talks mostly fitness and life lessons.
