MANILA, Philippines – Queen of All Media Kris Aquino has made her first public appearance since being diagnosed with autoimmune diseases.
She made her surprise appearance at the PeopleAsia’s People of the Year 2025 on Tuesday night, February 25.
In a quick interview with the media, Aquino said she went to support her good friend, fashion designer Michael Leyva.
“There are people who say that I’ll be there for you or maaasahan mo ako. But Michael has proven that so many times and in so many ways,” Aquino said of Leyva.
“And he gave his two cars for us. Nakompromisa ka na,” she added in jest.
Incidentally, Aquino’s public reappearance on February 25 also coincided with the 39th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, the bloodless revolution that toppled down the dictatorship of then President Marcos Sr. and catapulted her mother, Corazon Aquino to the Presidency.
“I actually thought today is the 24th, tomorrow pa yung 25. He was the one who told me. Sabi niya [last night], ‘Ano ka ba, bukas yung…’ So, sabi ko, ‘Perfect!’ Talagang perfect coming out,” she said.
About her health, the talk show host said she still isn’t in the best shape.
“They had trouble waking me up because I started a new medicine last night. I’m not so okay. Nahihilo ako,” she said.
Aquino came back to the country last year after two years of treatment in the United States.
