MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte has jetted off to The Hague in Netherlands this morning, March 12 to assist their father, former President Rodrigo Duterte and meet up with his lawyers there.

The Vice President and her brother, Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte flew to Amsterdam at 7:40 am via Emirates flight no. EK 337 bound for Amsterdam following the arrest of the former leader under an = International Criminal Court warrant on allegations of crimes against humanity.

The older Duterte was arrested upon his arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and was brought to the nearby Villamor Air Base in Pasay City heavily guarded by the police. The Vice President as well as other Duterte allies such as Sen. Bong Bo, Atty. Vic Rodriguez, even one of his lawyers Israelito Torreon, were barred access to the former president.

The tough-talking former president was flown out of the Philippines via a chartered flight that took off 11:03pm from NAIA on March 11, 2025. He was accompanied by his former executive secretary, Salvador Medialdea, a personal assistant, and a nurse.

Speaking to reporters at Gate 1 of the Villamor Airbase, the Vice President confirmed the plan to follow her father.

“Yes, meron na pong arrangements kasi kailangan ko kausapin ‘yung mga abogado doon kung saan man siya dalhin. Pupunta kami, ako, at pupunta ‘yung mga abogado and doon kami mag-uusap kung ano ‘yung mga gagawin,” she said.

The younger Duterte said she was able to speak to her father before her father left and even instructed him not to accept food and drinks from anyone.

“Sinabihan ko rin siya na huwag tumanggap ng pagkain saka tubig kahit kanino,” she said.

In a statement, the Vice President condemned her father’s arrest as a “blatant affront to our sovereignty and an insult to every Filipino who believes in our nation’s independence.”
