MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have captured two foreign fugitives in separate operations in Metro Manila, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported.

Jordanian national Hussam Aldeen Mohd Kamiel Ghanem, 56, and Chinese national Peng Quanbin, 28, were apprehended by BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) based on mission orders issued by Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado. Both individuals are set to be deported to face criminal charges in their respective countries.

Ghanem was arrested on March 11 at the BI main office in Intramuros, Manila after immigration personnel flagged him while attempting to extend his tourist visa.

Authorities found his name in the BI’s derogatory database, linking him to a case in Jordan involving the issuance of a worthless check.

The following day, Peng was apprehended at his residence in Barangay Carmona, Makati City.

Chinese authorities had requested his arrest for his alleged involvement in theft and cyber crimes, including hacking operations that defrauded victims of over 3 million RMB (more than $414,000).

A warrant for his arrest was reportedly issued by the public security bureau in Baise, China.

Both fugitives are now detained at the BI Warden Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, pending deportation proceedings.
