MANILA, Philippines – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has declared Tuesday, April 1, 2025, a regular holiday nationwide in observance of Eid’l Fitr (Feast of Ramadhan).

In Proclamation No. 839 released Thursday, Marcos formalized the holiday under Republic Act No. 9177, which designates Eid’l Fitr as a regular holiday in the country.

The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) had recommended either March 31, 2025 (Monday), or April 1, 2025 (Tuesday), as the official holiday, depending on the sighting of the moon.

“In order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness, and to allow the entire Filipino nation to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr, it is necessary to declare 01 April 2025, Tuesday, a regular holiday throughout the country,” the proclamation stated.

The order was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin on behalf of the chief executive.

The proclamation likewise noted the national government’s recognition of the significance of Eid’l Fitr, which marks the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
