MANILA, Philippines — Philippine politics is widely perceived as chaotic, corrupt, and divisive, a recent survey by polling firm PulseAsia said.

The February 2025 Pulso ng Bayan Survey revealed that 37.9 percent of registered voters described Philippine politics as “magulo” (chaotic), making it the most common sentiment across different regions and social classes.

Another 17.3 percent said politics is driven by corruption and money (“pera-pera lang”), while 10.9 percent associated it with conflict and lack of unity (“awayan/watak-watak/walang pagkakaisa”).

“These results reflect a clear distrust in the current political system, where disorder, corruption, and division dominate public perception,” Pulse Asia said in a statement.

Aside from chaos and corruption, the survey also found that vote-buying (5.8 percent), dirty politics (3.2 percent), and political dynasties (2.6 percent) contribute to the negative outlook on governance.

Only 4.2 percent of respondents viewed politics as “maayos” (orderly or well-run), underscoring the overwhelming negativity in how Filipinos see their government.

“The numbers paint a troubling picture—most Filipinos believe politics is not serving the people, but instead fueling disorder and corruption,” the polling firm said.
