MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has decided to retain Gabriel Go as head of its Special Operations Group–Strike Force (SOG-SF), despite facing cyberlibel complaints and an administrative reprimand over a recent incident in Quezon City.
Go, who leads the unit responsible for clearing road obstructions to ensure smooth vehicular and pedestrian flow in Metro Manila, will undergo a five-day training mentorship and coaching on traffic management.
The program will focus on leadership, courtesy, and discipline, with special attention to stress and anger management, it said.
MMDA Chairman Don Artes, said that the training is not a form of punishment but is intended for Go’s self-improvement.
The sessions will be led by Edison Nebrija of the agency’s Traffic Education Division.
The MMDA’s Legal and Legislative Affairs Staff earlier reprimanded Go for simple discourtesy during a clearing operation on March 25 in Quezon City, where he was involved in an incident with a police officer. He was also given a stern warning that any future offense will be dealt with more severely.
The MMDA continues to remind its enforcers to exercise maximum tolerance, address confrontations diplomatically, and uphold professionalism in all official dealings.
