MANILA, Philippines – Comedian Gene Padilla also wasn’t able to contain his disappointment at brother Dennis Padilla’s who ranted on social media about being treated like a visitor at his daughter Claudia Barretto’s wedding. 

Claudia tied the knot with long-time non-showbiz boyfriend Basti Lorenzo on Tuesday, April 8 at the St. James The Great Parish sa Ayala Alabang Village, Muntinlupa City. 

In a now deleted post, Dennis cried foul about not being given the treat due to the father of the bride. The seasoned comedia said he was not made part of the entourage. 

“Nabudol nyo ako! Father of the bride naging visitor. Galing nyo!” Dennis said. 

Gene, who came to the defense of his older brother, detailed how he, Dennis and their mother prepared for the wedding only to be disheartened at the lack of importance given to them.  

“Ngayon lang po ako magsasalita…by 1PM nasa church na po ako… galing bulacan going to Alabang… Si Mama po namin 5 am gumising na excited same kay Kuya Dennis Padilla para sa kasal ng anak niya… Ngayon lang ako naka-witness ng kasal na ‘di part ng program ang ama ng bride…,” Gene said. 

According to Gene, no one even briefed them that Dennis would not have any participation in the wedding let alone a designated seat for him as the father of the bride and his family.

“Sa aga namin dun…Na nandun mga event organizer wala man lang nagsabi na ‘di siya part ng program…

“‘Di kasama sa entourage na maglalakad sa gitna papuntang harapan ng altar…,” Gene said.

“Nagtanong kami kung san uupo ang nanay namin ang sabi kahit saan dun at yung ama dun na lang DAW sa tumabi sa mga ninong…kaya kami ni kuya dennis pumunta na lamang sa likuran…” he said.

Tears of frustration

What was expected to be tears of joy turned out to be tears of pain and frustration for Dennis as well as their mother that led Gene to decide for them to go home after the church ceremonies. 

“Napaluha at napaiyak si kuya sa mga nangyari…kaya sabi ko umuwi na tayo after ng simbahan at papicture na lang sa kinasal…” Gene said.

Gene called out his nieces Claudia, Julia and nephew Leon about the pain they inflicted on their father and grandmother because of the incident. 

“Naawa din ako sa nanay ko kasi naiyak na rin… Naramdaman ko ‘yung sakit na naramdaman ng kapatid at nanay ko dahil ama din ako…,” he said. 

“Ang tagal na panahon na nanunuyo at nahingi ng atensyon ama niyo sa inyo mga anak…’yan ba itinanim ng mga nakapaligid sa inyo…. puro kayo karangyaan at kasikatan…,” Gene said. 

Tama ba o mali ang ginawa niyo sa tatay niyo? 

Gene lashed that their family does not fit in the well-off life of Dennis’ kids but left his nieces and nephew a question to ponder on. 

“Sa inyo na lahat ‘yan… Sanay kami sa hirap at ‘di talaga kami nababagay sa inyo…,” he said.  

“Pero pinagkaiba namin sa inyo ay ‘yung puso namin at dignidad ‘di niyo kaya pantayan…Kahit magtanong kayo sa ibang magulang tama ba o mali ang ginawa niyo sa tatay niyo??? Dennis Dominguez Padilla Cheeni Taa Samuel Baldivia,” he said. 

“‘Di pala father of the BRIDE! Guest of the BRIDE!!!” he said.
