MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday said she endorsed the senatorial bids of reelectionist Sen. Imee Marcos and Camille Villar, both Marcos-linked candidates because they are “united by a common vision.” 

“The #Duter10 senatorial candidates, running under former President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s PDP Laban, together with reelectionist Senator Imee Marcos and Representative Camille Villar, are united by a common vision—a peaceful and prosperous Philippines,” Duterte said in a statement.

“This vision is solid enough to break through the walls of the existing political division in the country,” she said. 

Imee had earlier announced her breakaway from the administration-backed Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas ticket shortly after the arrest of the former president and her explosive Senate inquiry on its legality. 

Just last week, she officially released her campaign ad with the vice president with the theme “ITIM” (black) which stands for “Inday Trusts Imee Marcos.” The dark theme of the ad, a concept helmed by the vice president herself according to the senator, supposedly talked about supposed dark times the country is facing. 

The 30-second video highlighted issues alleged by the Duterte camp against the government such as hunger, criminalities and injustices, denouncement of non-allies and the arrest of the former president. 

In a virtual press conference, the older Marcos clarified that she is not happy with her feud with her brother and that she is only doing the right thing by siding with the Dutertes. She even came up with an ad specifically addressing sibling rift. 

Villar on the other hand is still very much with Alyansa. This was according to campaign manager, Navotas lone district Representative Toby Tiangco who recently said the coalition remains intact despite the then rumored Duterte endorsement of Villar. 

Just like Imee, a photo of Villar together with the vice president went viral last week that made netizens quickly conclude that another Duterte endorsement is on the way for an Alyansa member.
