MANILA, Philippines — Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru will undertake an Official Visit to the Philippines from April 29 to 30, 2025, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.

In a statement, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos will welcome Prime Minister Ishiba and his spouse, Mrs. Ishiba Yoshiko, at Malacañan Palace on April 29 for official engagements.

During the visit, President Marcos and Prime Minister Ishiba are expected to discuss ways to deepen and improve economic and development cooperation, political and defense engagements, and people-to-people exchanges.

They will also exchange views on regional and global developments and explore new pathways toward peace and stability under the “Strengthened Strategic Partnership” between the Philippines and Japan, the DFA said.

The two leaders last met in October 2024 on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summits in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

High-level exchanges remain a key feature of Philippines-Japan relations. President Marcos visited Japan in February 2023, followed by an official visit to the Philippines by then Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio in November 2023.
