MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte supported the recommendation of ally Sen. Imee Marcos to file cases against those involved in the arrest of her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.
She also expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for opening the doors for the extensive analysis of what was done to the former president.
“Una sa lahat, nagpapasalamat ako kay Sen Imee dahil siya ang nagbukas ng usapan
ano ang ginawa nila, anong kasalanan ang ginawa nila kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte – ang pagkidnap,” she said in an ambush interview in Sogod, Southern Leyte on Tuesday, April 29.
“Ngayon gusto naming makita na ma-file-an ng kaso ‘yung mga tao na may kasalanan sa kung anong nangyari sa pagdukot kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte,” she said.
The vice president yet again downplayed the administration’s denial about the arrest not being “politically-motivated” since if so, cases should have been filed long ago against these personalities.
“Ngayon, kung sasabihin ng administrasyon na hindi iyon nila ginawa at hindi iyon political ang pagkuha nila kay Pangulong Duterte, dapat nakikita natin na may mga kaso ang mga taong ito,” she said.
Not surprised about Roque’s case
The younger Duterte also said that she was no longer surprised about the non-bailable qualified human trafficking case filed against their family’s staunch supporter, former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque for his alleged involvement in illegal offshore gaming operations in the country.
“Ah yes, oo. Hindi na tayo nagugulat, ‘no, na merong case na pinahil kay dating spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque, dahil isa talaga siya sa mga malakas ang boses at malakas ang loob na magsabi kung ano ang mali sa administrasyon ngayon,” she said.
In addition, the vice president said she herself wasn’t surprised either about receiving summons over the case filed against her by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
In fact, ako man ay naka-receive din kanina ng summons sa Office of the Prosecutor sa finile ng National Bureau of Investigation na kaso laban sa akin.
NBI DIrector Jaime Santiago clarified that the case she was referring to was the threat she publicly issued against President Marcos Jr. filed several months ago.
“Para sa ‘preliminary Investigation’ ‘yang subpoena na iyan sa na-i-file naming kaso vs. VP Sara (several months ago) regarding her threat vs. PBBM, FL [First Lady Liza Marcos] and [House] Speaker [Martin Romualdez] ngayon lang siguro na- sched ni PG-DOJ [Prosecutor General – Department of Justice],” Santiago said.
