Vice President Sara Duterte
MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte said should rumors of replacing House Speaker Martin Romualdez from leadership be true, it would not be “relevant” anymore since due to magnanimity of the corruption done to the 2025 budget.
In an ambush interview in Cagayan de Oro on Wednesday Duterte said she does not have any information about such rumors.
“Wala, wala akong information… wala akong information sa document na pagpapalit kay House Speaker Romualdez. I don’t think that is relevant right now dahil the damage has been done, ang laki ng pagkakamali at korapsyon na ginawa nila sa budget natin,” Duterte said.
“So palitan man natin si House Speaker Romualdez, hindi na natin maibabalik iyong pera na nawala dahil sa korapsyon,” she said.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Wednesday issued a statement denying rumors of a change in leader at the House of Representatives caused by a supposed internal memorandum that has been making rounds on social media.
Bersamin called it a “blatant attempt to spread disinformation and to sow division in the ranks of the administration candidates” and “should be dismissed as handiwork of malicious minds.”
Romualdez has not made a statement on the issue.
