Jackie Lou Blanco hugs eldest son Kenneth as she delivers eulogy for late husband Ricky Davao
“I love you, I’ve always loved you, I will always love you.”
Gasping for words, an emotional Jackie Lou Blanco faced the urn of ex-husband Ricky Davao and professed her undying love for him, a love that never faded through the years.
In the final wake of Ricky on Tuesday (May 6), Jackie Lou spoke of how the late actor was such a “big part” of her life.
Ricky and Jackie Lou got married in 1989 but separated years later. They however were able to keep their problems away from the public. It was also not known to many that both of them had separate partners after their separation. Ricky had one child in a past affair.
Even in interviews, Jackie Lou would say she is at peace with her ex-husband to the point of being civil with his romantic affairs after her, including his last girlfriend Mayeth Malca.
She even thanked her for taking good care of Ricky until his last breath.

But at one point in her eulogy, an emotional Jackie Lou admitted that despite being okay with their situation, she still prayed for the healing of their marriage.
“There was a time when, sorry, when I received the Lord as my personal Savior. I’m sorry, Malka, no disrespect to you. Part of my prayer was if it was the Lord’s will to heal my marriage. That was my prayer,” Jackie Lou said.
“But after a while, my prayer changed. What was more important to me was for Ricky to accept the Lord in his heart. For me, above anything, that was most important,” she said.
Closure and forgiveness
Jackie Lou said there was also closure and forgiveness before Ricky passed.
She recalled the moment when Rikki Mae, their daughter, asked for her to finally talk to her father when he had a septic shock and they though it was his time. Hesitant, Jackie Lou asked actress Lotlot de Leon, her former sister-in-law who was also close to Ricky, to ask the actor if it was okay for her to talk to him to which he agreed.
“So, I went inside and I said, Ricky, this is Jackie. I’m here with the kids. I just want you to know that I will take care of them. And I said, ‘I’m sorry for whatever it is that I forgive me,’” she said.
“He didn’t open his eyes but I knew that he heard me. I may not have had a happy ending but my prayer was answered. I had closure and I know in my heart that he heard what I said,” she said.
For Jackie Lou, raising three beautiful children was the best thing she and Ricky did.
Final message
Addressing Ricky, Jackie Lou read him her final message:
“Though our time together changed shape over the years, I will always honor the good we shared and the family that we built. Your presence will be missed in the everyday moments, the family gatherings, na lagi kang nagpapatawa, the quiet ways you show, how you cared.”
I’m thankful for the life you helped shape, for the father and grandfather you were, and the memories that we live on in our children and grandchildren. Ricky, rest well, though how deeply loved you are by all of us.”
“Thank you. Thank you so much for being the kind of father that you were. And I promise you, like I promised you, that I will not let go of our children. I will take care of them.”
“We will honor you by sharing what you taught us. We will honor you by trying to be excellent in whatever field that we are in and by being good people just like you are. Say hello to my mom. Tell her I miss her. I love you, I’ve always loved you and I will always love you. Thank you so much, rest in peace.”
“Now pwede na kayo kumanta ni Mamita.”
