MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte said she intends to go all out to support an anti-dynasty law despite hailing from a family of politicians and the Dutertes sweeping most of the local seats in Davao City during the recently-concluded 2025 midterm elections.

“Ako yung may pinakamalaki at solid ang kredibilidad to speak about political dynasty because I come from a political dynasty, so wala nang mas matindi pang expert sa political dynasty,” Duterte said after casting her vote.

Claiming to be an “expert” on political dynasties, the vice president said she would even author the legislation if given a chance.

“Susuportahan ko ba ang batas na anti-political dynasty? Yes. Kung bibigyan nila ako ng pagkakataon, ako yung susulat. Ako yung pinakamagaling sa political dynasty,” she said.

In past interviews, Duterte has always encouraged people to vote according to their track record and not because of their family names.

“I am campaigning about us selecting people automatically based on their family affiliation,”

“Hindi automatic yung na kapag anak, asawa, kapatid, pamangkin automatic na absent a law; that is the most we can do as voters: question the capacity and the competence of the candidate,” she said.

The Duterte magic proved its unmatched prevalence in their bailiwick  following the wins of their family members in local politics.

Even from detention in The Hague, Netherlands, former President Rodrigo Duterte made a landslide win as mayor of the city while his youngest son, incumbent mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte won as vice mayor.

The former president’s eldest grandson Omar is set to join his father Paolo after the two secured the first and second districts of the city.

Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II — Omar’s brother and namesake of the former president won as the top city councilor.
