MANILA, Philippines—The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has found motovlogger Yanna Motovlog guilty of traffic violations related to a viral road rage incident in Zambales, resulting in the suspension of her driver’s license and a total fine of P7,000.
In a seven-page decision, the LTO fined Yanna Motovlog P5,000 for operating a motorcycle without side mirrors and P2,000 for reckless driving. The agency also ordered the suspension of her driver’s license until she complies with the directive to surrender the motorcycle she used in the incident.
LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said the violations were clearly documented in a viral video uploaded by the motovlogger herself. The footage showed her performing dangerous overtaking maneuvers and riding a motorcycle without side mirrors.
The decision cited the video, her letter of apology, and the affidavit from the pick-up driver involved as key pieces of evidence in the ruling. Yanna Motovlog was found guilty of reckless driving and operating a motorcycle without side mirrors, but was cleared of charges related to driving a vehicle without attached number plates, as she is not the registered owner.
The LTO criticized Yanna Motovlog’s refusal to appear in the investigation and failure to surrender the motorcycle despite being ordered to do so.
“This noncompliance not only violates the instructions mandated by this Office but also demonstrates outright disrespect for established legal procedures and regulatory enforcement. The failure to appear as ordered underscores a lack of regard for due process, accountability, and the authority vested in this Office,” the decision stated.
“By refusing to present both the registered owner and the motorcycle for inspection, the concerned party has obstructed investigative proceedings, delayed efforts to establish responsibility, and undermined the integrity of enforcement measures,” it added.
The LTO also emphasized the vlogger’s responsibility as a public figure.
“As a motovlogger and content creator, (she) holds a heightened responsibility to set a positive example for her audience. Instead, her reckless overtaking maneuver—executed on the right side of a Nissan Navarra without signals, on a hazardous road with poor visibility –directly contradicts the safe riding principles she should be promoting,” the decision read.
“While she later expressed remorse and pledged cooperation, her initial refusal to delete the video demonstrates a disregard for the seriousness of her actions. By keeping the content accessible, she inadvertently reinforced a culture of reckless riding rather than emphasizing accountability,” it added.
Aside from the license suspension, the LTO also suspended the license plate of the motorcycle registered under her name and placed the motorcycle she used on alarm status until it is surrendered. Law enforcement officers were directed to confiscate the license plate and apprehend Yanna Motovlog if she is found driving while her license is suspended
