MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has declared Friday, June 6, 2025, a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice.

Under Proclamation No. 911, Marcos formalized the nationwide holiday following the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, which based the date on the 1446 Hijrah Islamic Lunar Calendar.

Republic Act No. 9849 declares the 10th day of Dhu’l Hijja, the twelfth month of the Islamic Calendar, as a national holiday for Eid’l Adha, subject to a movable date.

Eid’l Adha is one of the two greatest feasts in Islam, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God—a symbol of faith and devotion among Muslims worldwide.

The proclamation was signed on May 21, 2025, by Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin.
