MANILA, Philippines — The crime rate in Metro Manila dropped by over 23 percent in the last six months, based on a report released by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

From November 23, 2024 to May 23, 2025, the NCRPO recorded a 23.13 percent decrease in focus crimes compared to the same period last year.

Focus crimes include murder, homicide, physical injuries, rape, robbery, theft, and carnapping, it said.

A total of 779 fewer cases were reported, with murder cases falling from 208 to 156, or a 25 percent decrease. Homicide dropped by 19.18 percent, physical injuries by 25.75 percent, rape by 29.28 percent, theft by 25.51 percent, and robbery by 16.99 percent. Carnapping of motor vehicles went down by 11.11 percent, although motorcycle carnapping increased by 5.38 percent.

Crime solution efficiency also slightly improved from 69.06 percent to 69.64 percent, while crime clearance efficiency dipped from 99.67 percent to 99.15 percent.

NCRPO attributed the drop in crime to intensified police operations and the implementation of the “Triple A Program,” which stands for Able force, Active operations, and Allied partnerships.

“This is what going back to basics can deliver: a safer, peaceful and orderly community. When NCRPO is seen, heard and felt by the people, our mandate of crime prevention and solution become highly-achievable,” said NCRPO Chief Police Major General Anthony A. Aberin.

Aberin said the NCRPO will continue its intensified campaign against criminality, particularly illegal drugs, and will sustain high police visibility in crime-prone areas.
