MANILA, Philippines— The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) a former Philippine Army member and one of CALABARZON’s most wanted, for the alleged murder of his son’s opponent in Antipolo City.

Joel, 69, was arrested on May 29, 2025, in Boso-Boso, Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City, following a murder warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 97, Antipolo City, on November 11, 2014. No bail was recommended.

According to reports, on December 25, 2013, during a drinking session at their residence in Barangay Inarawan, a dispute erupted between Joel’s son, Noah, and the victim. Noah allegedly attacked the victim with a bolo.

Joel reportedly intervened and allegedly shot the victim with a firearm, resulting in the victim’s immediate death.

Noah was arrested on November 11, 2014, by CIDG Rizal and is currently serving his sentence.

Joel had been in hiding across various locations in CALABARZON for over ten years before his capture.

Police Major General Torre III praised the CIDG Rizal Provincial Field Unit and allied teams for the arrest, emphasizing the group’s commitment to pursuing fugitives and delivering justice.

Joel remains in custody as the investigation continues.
