MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested 39 foreign nationals in a raid at a telecommunications company in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig for working in violation of immigration laws.
BI operatives, working with the Philippine National Police Southern Police District (PNP-SPD), found the individuals—reported to be all Chinese—without valid travel documents. While they held working visas, the permits were issued under petitions from a different company, which is prohibited under Philippine immigration rules.
The arrested foreign nationals last May 29 were booked and are now detained at the BI facility in Bicutan. Deportation proceedings are ongoing.
The operation was part of an intensified crackdown on illegal foreign workers following orders from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for strict enforcement of immigration laws. The BI said the raid came after weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering.
