MANILA, Philippines — Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla expressed full confidence in newly appointed Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police Major General Nicolas Torre III, saying he is committed to delivering results.
“Kapag sinabi ng Pangulo na ‘make the streets safer,’ makakasigurado kayo kasi very conclusive itong si General Torre,” Remulla said in a radio interview, praising Torre’s decisiveness and strong sense of duty.
“Ang gusto ko kay Torre ay tinatapos niya talaga ang trabaho at saka no excuses,” he added.
Remulla said Torre’s dedication to public service is rooted in personal experience, noting that Torre’s father, a former police officer, was assassinated in Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat while in the line of duty.
The DILG chief confirmed that Torre has already received his marching orders from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and has established a good rapport with the President.
“With Torre at the helm, the DILG looks forward to a renewed and stronger collaboration with the PNP,” Remulla said.
In a statement, he added: “The Department is confident that Torre’s leadership will drive transformation, innovation, and strengthen the PNP’s mandate to serve and protect.”
