MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) – Batangas District Office arrested a Chinese national for selling smuggled agricultural products in Batangas, authorities confirmed.

The suspect, identified as Chen Mouzhun, was apprehended on May 27, 2025, after selling 199 sacks of onions and 51 sacks of garlic labeled “Imported from China” to an undercover agent during an entrapment operation.

Chen failed to present the necessary permits and licenses for the agricultural goods, which prompted his arrest for violating Section 7 of Republic Act No. 12022, known as the “Anti-Agricultural Sabotage Act of 2024.”

The operation followed information received by the NBI-Batangas about individuals transporting and selling smuggled agricultural products in the province.
