MANILA, Philippines — Filipino girl group BINI has released a new single titled “Shagidi,” a lively dance anthem inspired by a traditional Filipino childhood game.

The song reflects a blend of cultural pride and contemporary pop, highlighting a nostalgic piece of Filipino heritage. The single’s cover art was personally designed by BINI member Maloi.

In a media report, it said “Shagidi” was developed during an ABS-CBN Music camp held in Davao last year, which brought together local and international producers and artists. BINI singers Angela Ken, Angia Laurel, and Maymay Entrata introduced the traditional game “Shagidi Shapopo” to the producers, sparking creative inspiration that led to the recording of the track. The songwriting team included Marqueze Parker, Tommy Brown, Courtlin Jabrae, JBach, and Angela Ken.

Prior to “Shagidi,” BINI released their comeback single “Blink Twice” from their “BINIverse” EP and launched their performance video for “Zero Pressure” last month.

The group’s first variety show, “BINIversus,” is currently available on their official YouTube channel. BINI is also conducting a North American concert tour, visiting various cities across the United States.
