MANILA, Philippines— The days-long power crisis in Siquijor has been resolved, with electricity fully restored across the province ahead of the June 15 deadline set by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) on June 14 announced the return of stable electricity supply, ending the rotating brownouts that affected thousands of residents, businesses, and schools.

NEA implemented the directive of President Marcos, who on June 11 ordered Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda to act swiftly in addressing the crisis. The agency worked closely with the Province of Siquijor Electric Cooperative (PROSIELCO) to expedite the repair of power generation units of the Siquijor Island Power Corporation (SIPCOR).

To boost supply, NEA also facilitated the deployment of a generator set from the Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) and brought in additional rental units from SIPCOR.

These efforts brought the island’s available capacity to 11 megawatts (MW), surpassing the peak demand of 9 MW and providing a 1.65 MW reserve.

NEA assured continued monitoring to maintain reliable power supply in the province.
