MANILA, Philippines —Passengers flying in and out of Ilocos Norte can now experience improved travel amenities as a portion of the newly renovated Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) at Laoag International Airport officially opened to the public.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, led the opening of the upgraded terminal on Saturday as part of efforts to modernize regional airports.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said the facility’s partial opening supports President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to enhance aviation infrastructure across the country to ensure better connectivity and comfort for travelers.
“Ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na i-modernize natin ang lahat ng mga airport sa bansa para masiguro nating mayroong connectivity sa buong Pilipinas para maging komportable ang biyahe ng ating mga pasahero,” Dizon said.
As of June 2025, the improvement and expansion project of the Laoag International Airport’s PTB is 63% complete, which is 4.5% ahead of schedule. The DOTr targets full completion by October 2025.
