MANILA, Philippines — Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray has addressed online speculation linking her to Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, saying there is nothing romantic behind their recent social media interaction.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Gray said the buzz started after she and Sotto followed each other on Instagram—a move that quickly sparked reactions from fans. “Follow-an lang. Mutuals lang,” she said, adding, “There’s really not much more than a mutual follow.”

The online chatter began on Sunday, June 8, when followers of both public figures noticed the mutual follows and speculated on a possible collaboration—or even a potential romance. Some fans pointed out their shared advocacies in public service, while others commented on their perceived compatibility, highlighting both their looks and intellect.

Neither Gray nor Sotto has hinted at any joint project or personal relationship. The beauty queen said she was surprised by the reactions. “There’s really not much more than a mutual follow,” she repeated.

Gray was previously engaged to actor-singer Sam Milby, but the couple called off their wedding plans and separated in 2024. Milby confirmed the breakup in February 2025, clarifying that it involved no third party.

Sotto, known for keeping his personal life private, has publicly stated that being in a relationship is not among his current priorities. His mother, veteran actress Coney Reyes, has also said she does not interfere in his private affairs.
