MANILA, Philippines — Personal remittances from overseas Filipinos (OFs) rose to US$2.97 billion in April 2025, marking a 4.1 percent increase from the US$2.86 billion recorded in the same month last year, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) reported.

The growth was attributed to higher remittances from both land-based and sea-based OFs.

From January to April 2025, total personal remittances climbed by 3.0 percent to US$12.37 billion, compared to US\$12.01 billion in the same period last year.

Cash remittances sent through banks also posted growth, reaching US$2.66 billion in April 2025 — up 4.0 percent from US$2.56 billion in April 2024. Cumulative bank cash remittances from January to April 2025 hit US$11.11 billion, also a 3.0 percent increase from the US$10.78 billion recorded a year ago.

The BSP said the increase in remittances during the first four months of the year was mainly driven by stronger inflows from the United States, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates. The U.S. remained the top source of cash remittances, followed by Singapore and Saudi Arabia.
